Military Jacket and Stripes

Now that it has FINALLY cooled down in California, I can bring out my fall layers.  One of my staples for this season is this military jacket (similar) that I paired with my summer striped t-shirt dress (similar).  I love being able to transition my summer favorites into fall with just a second layer.  My other go-to is my Hunter Boots, rain or shine they are a classic that I love with dresses or skinny jeans.  I hope you guys are having a great week, thanks for stopping by!

XO,

Stephanie

Teal and Red

Last year, my amazing hair guru Ash VanHousen at Taylor Monroe SF and I went on a pastel hair color adventure.  We started with the coolest shade of teal, and while rocking this color, I added a red lip and realized that red and green are not only for Christmas time!  Teal and green is a refreshing combo that is so fun for fall/winter style.  Today was a gorgeous cloudy day in the hills (my favorite), and perfect for shooting.  I paired a trapeze dress with my fave plaid blanket scarf (both Forever 21), Genetic Denim white skinnies, these fab Jeffrey Campbell red booties and a teal bag by Balenciaga. Layering during fall is my jam, so stay tuned for more cozy and chic fall layers!  Thanks for stopping by 🙂

XO,

Stephanie

Leather and Plaid

Happy Sunday! I am having a long weekend in La Selva Beach with my family, going to the farmer’s market, cooking, reading, and beach walking. So relaxing! This week, fall weather has finally arrived, so I was excited to break out my flannels, jackets, and booties. One of my favorite go-to pieces this fall is a plaid shirt dress. This one I got from Forever 21, and it is super soft and cozy, and only $19.90! I have been wanting a classic Schott motorcycle jacket for awhile now, and I finally bit the bullet and got it. The company was founded in 1913 and created the first motorcycle jacket worn by the likes of James Dean, Peter Fonda in “Easy Rider”, the Sex Pistols, Blondie, the Ramones, Kate Moss, and Rihanna. The fit is AMAZING, and the quality of the leather is so supple, it will only become better with wear. Also, it’s like wearing a little piece of history. I finished off the look with Without Walls leggings, my fave Splendid booties (similar), and a classic black Celine Nano Luggage bag. I hope you all have a lovely week, thanks for stopping by!

XO, Stephanie

Brazil Part 2: Itatiba and Salto

Happy Sunday!  I hope everyone is having a great weekend!  This weekend we are relaxing, recovering from jet-lag and getting ready for the week ahead.  Last Sunday, we were on our way from Itatiba where we attended the most epic Brazilian wedding for Camila and Guilherme at Fazenda Dona Carolina, to Salto for lovely eveing with family friends in their home.

First, I will get to our marvelous trip to Itatiba.  This beautiful town in the Brazilian countryside is the backdrop to Fazenda Dona Carolina, a hotel, coffee plantation and cachaçeria that is  named after Dona Carolina, “an abolitionist and Republican who took over the property administration after her husband’s death, freed all farm slaves before the Abolition in 1888 and gave them 593 acres of land.”  It is a gorgeous compound painted white with beautiful blue shutters.  On the grounds there is a lovely pool, 3 restaurants, a cachaçeria, a zip line, wonderful hikes and a lake complete with Capybara, a guinea pig like animal that typically weigh 146 lbs.

The wedding on Saturday was atop a hill at Sunset in front of the most perfect little chapel.  The ceremony was so full of love, and emotion, I could not help but dab my eyes.  After the ceremony, off we went to the party in the cachaçeria that had 3 bars, delicious food, a candy bar, awesome music, romantic decor, and it went until 5am!  Brazilians really know how to party 🙂  We woke up to a post wedding brunch with the newlyweds, then headed to the pool for one last swim before we left for Salto.

We packed up and headed off to Salto to visit with my mother in law Cindy’s close friends of 30 years, Denis and Pilar, who are more like family than friends.  They invited us into their home, cooked us a yummy Brazilian dinner, and we spent the night looking through photo albums looking back on 30 years of friendship, and some hilarious pictures of Roger and his brother Chris as kids.  People in brazil are the most welcoming and hospitable that I have met in my travels, and Denis and Pilar are the perfect example.  In the morning, we headed back to the city to get ready for our flight home…the trip really flew by!

Here are some photos of Itatiba and Salto, enjoy!

Brazil Part 1 : São Paulo

Hi guys, I hope you are all having a lovely week!  My husband Roger and I just got back from a whirlwind week long trip to Brazil for our close Brazilian friend’s wedding, and to see family friends.  We had not been back since our honeymoon, and I love this country even more after this trip.  Just to provide a little history, my in-laws lived in Brazil right after they got married, so Roger and his brother Chris have been going to Brazil to visit since they were babies.  We started in São Paulo where we stayed at my Mother-in-law Cindy’s home in the Jardins district of the city, I love going to Brazil with her because she is basically a local and she knows all the fun stuff to do.  On this part of the trip we had dinners with friends, strolled Oscar Friere (the Rodeo Drive of São Paulo), went to Ted X São Paulo, and visited the piano terrace at the Edifício Itália to watch the sunset, and see the vastness of this vibrant city, that has a population of 11.31 million. Here are some photos of our time in São Paulo, up next will be the wedding in Itatiba, and our visit to Salto.  Have a great weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

XO,

Stephanie

First Friday 9/4

Last Friday, we had another amazing time with great friends at Oakland First Fridays.  This time we did a double date, and the four of us had a blast.  There were two blocks of food trucks this time and we chose the Rodericks BBQ pulled pork sandwich with delish baked beans, and it hit the spot.  There was awesome live music on every block, and we always have to stop by the vintage car show at the end of telegraph to check out the classic hot rods, low riders, and muscle cars.  We had a night cap at Telegraph Beer Garden and headed home to get some sleep before our drive to Pinercrest Lake for labor day.  Again, I recommend this event if you live in the Bay Area, delectable food, cool people, and a fun vibe!

Lake Lyfe

Hi Guys, I hope you all had a lovely Labor Day weekend.  Roger and I had a gorgeous time at Pinecrest lake with my god-sister, who is really my sister, and amazing friends.  We stayed at a cabin that is nestled in the mountains, so there is NO cell phone service, or internet.  It was really refreshing to unplug, and only use my phone for taking pictures of breathtaking views.  We spent time at the beach paddle boarding, and took a fun and challenging 4 mile hike around the perimeter of the lake on Labor Day.  Below are some photos of this magical place!
