Navy is the new Black

I usually ALWAYS go for black, but a new fresh addition of navy accessories to my wardrobe is changing my mind.  My navy Chanel flap bag and Boutique 9 booties are my go to shoe and bag of the moment.  They mesh with almost every color and will translate through each season seamlessly.  Today I am wearing my favorite Dusen Dusen circle skirt dress and an Allsaints leather jacket that has been a staple in my closet for 3 years with the beautiful backdrop of Oakland’s Jack London Square.

Sunset Romp

Warmer weather is upon us and this means two of my favorite things: taking in these beautiful Oakland sunsets and living in rompers.  I finished my finals at FIDM today and finally have the chance to savor the little things that I love the most.  I found this romper for $60 at Anthropologie and cannot count the outfits to which it has contributed.  Rompers are a no brainer; its a full outfit and just needs accessorizing. I chose an hermes constance belt, celine sunnies, spectator booties and a vintage louis vuitton saddle bag.  I am ready for a vacation and cannot wait to show you the ranch in Mammoth Lakes, CA.  I spent childhood summers there and will be fly fishing, drinking beers and hanging with my nearest and dearest to celebrate the 4th of July.  Summertime and the livin’ is easy, at least until school starts again 🙂

Black and Tan

Whoever said black and brown do not go together obviously is not familiar with Chanel. One of the most chic and easy to wear neutral color combinations is black and tan. Today I am wearing a black silk Acne Studios dress with a teardrop back cutout, black and silver Jeffrey Campbell Booties, silver jewels and a tan Celine.  Simplicity is key.  Happy Friday, heres a great whiskey cocktail that I discovered a few years back when I lived in Haight Ashbury with the same namesake, Black and Tan, that will get your weekend started off right 🙂 Oh, and check out that Oakland view helicopters and all….

What would Penny Lane wear?

I woke up vibing to Led Zeppelin BBC sessions early this morning, so naturally as I was getting dressed this morning I was in a 70’s mood.  My favorite movie, Almost Famous, came to mind, and today I am channeling my favorite character Penny Lane. I am still obsessed with crop tops and high waisteds–I threw in some crochet over a leather bralette to salute the decade and add some edge. I topped it off with some sky high Jeffrey Campbell clogs to give it some height.

Loved the sweet pitbull cameo from the shop next door to where we were shooting 🙂

Next Level Statement Necklace

As a stylist, I always love a good statement necklace to take an outfit from ordinary to fierce. I recently discovered the NYC based jewelry designer, DYLANLEX and she is changing the game. I ordered the Sienna necklace and I never want to take it off. I paired it with a simple flowy silk top, vegan leather pants and some lace up Jeffrey Campbells, but without this beautiful piece, this outfit would be nothing.

Vintage Luxe

What is Vintage Luxe you ask? It is the mixture of current yet classic pieces with treasures found along the way and it is my fashion philosophy. The journey is the most important aspect of life and quality is much more important than quantity. I learned from my mother that paying for the high end classic pieces from the best labels is an investment and certain pieces always appreciate. I taught myself to dig through racks of vintage clothes in Haight Ashbury, flea markets in Helsinki, and roadside turquoise artisans in the middle of Utah to find the one of a kind garments and jewelry that have become like old friends in my wardrobe.

Follow me on my quest  for more old friends in the fabulous ensembles I wear, eating food I love, meeting amazing people and discovering the places I go in the Bay Area and around the World ✧
